In April 5th, at its head office in Changwon, Gyeongnam, STX Engine (Representative Director: Ko Seong-whan) held a ceremony to celebrate achieving accumulated production of defense industry engines amounting to 20 million horse power for the first time in Korea as well as the 40th anniversary of the partnership with MTU in Germany, with its major customers and MTU's management officers in attendance.
STX Engine, which specializes in the production of diesel engines for the defense industry in Korea, stably produces and supplies diesel engines applied to K1 tanks and K9 self-propelled artillery of the Korean Army as well as naval vessels and patrol ships of the Korea Coast Guard.
During his commemorative speech, President Ko Seong-whan of STX Engine stressed, "STX Engine is significantly contributing to national defense and maritime sovereignty by localizing and supplying our diesel engines for the vessels and patrol ships operated by the Korean military and Coast Guard since STX first advanced into the then almost barren field of domestic defense industry diesel engine business in 1977 in technical cooperation with MTU, Germany. In particular, 2018 is a very meaningful year in that STX Engine achieved the accumulated production of diesel engines for defense industry amounting to 20 million horse power for the first time in Korea, and it is the 40th anniversary of the accompanying win-win partnership with MTU in Germany, and the company will exert its best efforts to reinforce its core capability in defense related business with a spirit of creativity and challenge."
Mr. Andreas Schell, President of Rolls Royce Power Systems, expressed, "I am very glad to see directly that STX, which is a very important partner of our company, is making remarkable accomplishments not only in Korea but also in the world market based on its technological power accumulated over a long period of time."
