
On the 8th, STX Engine announced that it will participate in the 2021 MADEX held in BEXCO of Busan from June 9th to 12th.
Celebrating its 12th anniversary, the exhibition is an event held by the ROK Navy, Busan city and the KOTRA and about 450 booths showing latest vessels, submarines, shipbuilding materials, thus becoming the largest oceanic defense system exhibition of Korea.
At the exhibition, STX Engine will the actual diesel power generator set to be mounted in the Navy’s latest frigate ship (FFX-II).
A diesel power generator set with a total of 25 tons and the dimension of (595 x 259 x 446, cm) comes with a noise suppression box to reduce the noises generated outside and inside the ship, and it can produce the electrical power of 1,400KW, thus playing the role to drive the propeller of ships or supply necessary electricity to vessel operation.
Beside the actual diesel power generator set, STX Engine will exhibit a model diesel engine propulsion set mounted in the Naval police’s 500 ton patrolling ship and seashore and harbor patrolling antenna set developed with independent technologies.
STX Engine’s CEO Park Gi Mun said, “Defense industry can greatly affect the national economical development and exports as well as contributions to the national security,” and added, “With 40 years of expertise in defense industry, we are happy to contribute to the improvement of Naval power.” In addition, he emphasized, “At the MADEX exhibition, we will exhibit or battle ship diesel engines and electronic communication devices with high technological power, and directly and indirectly support exportation of Korean battle ships and expand the scope of localization, thus making every effort for promoting regional economy and improving domestic technologies.”
Also, on May 25h, STX Engine visited the Navy(Commander HQ, depot maintenance site) and discussed with the Naval logistic commander and staffs for Naval maintenance on mutual technology cooperation and the direction of development and on the 31st, it was selected as the diesel engine supplier for K9 self-propelled artillery, which is the main, and best export product of Korean defense industry by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology, thus drawing attentions as a leader of defense industry development.
