On the 1st, a major company, STX Engine’s electronic communication center (Yongin business) announced that it will challenge the seashore radar-II system development project offered by Defense Acquisition Program Administration with the help of special technology for seashore surveillance radars and proven seashore surveillance equipment development abilities.
With supports from Defense Acquisition Program Administration and Defense Agency for Technology and Quality in June 2020, STX Engine’s electronic communication center successfully localized advanced intelligent seashore surveillance radars (GPS-800K) for exports. GPS-800K has adopted the already proven technologies such as ROK navy’s current new radar’s SSPA. Small target detection and tracking and so on.
GPS-800K has passed the operation evaluation by the public certification body in the West sea and successfully passed test operation in the East sea, thus it has proven to be operable in any kind of oceanic environment. The equipment was already disclosed to the public in Korea and overseas through international oceanic safety fair and MADEX and so on.
STX Engine's electronic communication center has been developing various radars for seashore monitoring and vessels for the past 30 years since the era of Daewoo Communication, the former company of radar and sonar specialty. The GPS-98K currently operating in Korea’s seashores was localized for the first time in 1998 by the company and it is a company specialized in seashore and oceanic radar development and manufacturing.
After successfully developing many radar products, it has been focusing on radar optimization and performance improvement as well as providing consistent maintenance and supports. The seashore surveillance radar for exportation was developed with the technologies from the 4th industrial revolution in line with the globalization by utilizing 30 years of technologies and expertise.
An authority from STX Engine's electronic communication HQ said, “There are lots of threats in seashores of Korea such as unidentified small targets and so on,” and added, “We must have a seashore radar with proven abilities of detection in anytime anywhere.”
STX Engine’s electronic communication HQ will cope with environmental changes of the army making the best of expertise and know-how’s earned in times of varying environments of seashores, and also update the pre developed equipments to lead the development of optimal seashore radars that can monitor various threats at the seashore from multi dimensions.
